Here at Sheerwater Glass, we are firm believers in helping out our local community when we can. Without the business of local people, we wouldn’t be where we are today, so we feel it’s only right to give something back if given the chance. As part of this commitment, we recently began sponsoring the Minis Rugby teams at Chobham RFC.
Chobham Minis Rugby
Located just a short distance away from our Sheerwater base is the home of Chobham Minis Rugby - Chobham RFC. Chobham Minis Rugby provides rugby coaching and support to children in the local area. It offers a safe and friendly environment where children from the Woking area can learn important skills like ‘courage, loyalty, sportsmanship, discipline and teamwork’.
Chobham Minis Rugby has teams all the way from Under 6s to Under 11s along with teams for both girls and boys, meaning it’s an important outlet for hundreds of local children aged between 5 and 11.
As part of our sponsorship deal, the Sheerwater Glass name will feature on the kits of the Chobham Minis Rugby teams, whilst we will provide them with important day-to-day funding. This should help Chobham RFC with their running costs so they can continue to operate.
Local sports clubs are an essential outlet for the area’s youth
Sports clubs at grassroots levels in Woking are a place for youngsters in the area to keep fit, socialise and learn important skills. Considering that childhood obesity is on the rise in the UK, the importance of having a safe & friendly environment where local children can keep fit cannot be understated. Making friends and learning new life skills are also key for a child’s development, which means it’s essential that organisations like Chobham RFC can remain in operation.
We hope that, with our sponsorship, Chobham RFC can do just that.
Sponsoring Chobham Minis Rugby is not the only example where we, or members of our team, have tried to give something back; in July 2019, one of our Fenestration Installers, Andy, swam the Solent and ended up raising over £2,500 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association! Just because we install glazing doesn’t mean we can’t do something amazing!
